ANTIGUA GUITAR

This guitar was created in response to the demand for an instrument with a sound that was similar to the guitars from the early twentieth century. It was designed to adapt to a spruce pine top and it is, therefore, basically built with a spruce pine top, and with a cedar top only when requested.

This guitar is born as a response to the demand of an instrument with a similar sound, in some aspects, to the guitars that were made at the beginning of the 20th century. This guitar has been developed to fit in with the spruce top, so it is constructed with a spruce top, and with a red cedar top only if it is made to order.

Nowadays, tastes on sound are really varied, that’s why we want to offer more possibilities, focusing mainly on two lines: our Traditional guitar, and the Antique guitar, which are completely different in their conception, sound, color and tone.

    WITH A CHAMBER

This is not a guitar model, it is an additional feature added to our Traditional guitar. The "chamber" is an inner wing, also a Ramírez design, which is glued half way up the side. Can be applied to any model on order and the piece can be made of Indian rosewood, red cedar or German spruce, on request.

Its purpose is to eliminate “wolf tones” and provide a clear sound in which the notes are neatly separated from one another. The rosewood wing was introduced by my father, José Ramírez III, and provides an excellent result regarding sound quality. The red cedar or German spruce wing was introduced by Amalia Ramírez, and provides clarity of sound and an effect similar to a 10-string guitar. It is ideal for baroque and Renaissance music. Its construction details are those of the Traditional guitar.
